ATELIER MEJÍA/WÄLZ is an artist duo founded in 2022 by Camila Mejía and new media artist Erik Wälz. Working across new media, projection mapping, spatial installation, and soundscape, their practice combines artistic research with a scientific curiosity and a focus on biomorphic abstraction. Drawing on observations of natural systems, micro-environments, and urban ecologies in the context of the Anthropocene, they create immersive audiovisual environments and sculptures that challenge perception and invite cross-sensory forms of storytelling. Rooted in biological processes and biomimetic principles, their works make hidden phenomena perceptible through light, moving image, and sound, while reflecting on ecological fragility and shifting perspective from an anthropocentric worldview toward more-than-human interdependence, where technology becomes a mediator for sensing coexistence.
