Beacon centres on themes of connection, memory, migration, specifically journeys across water and belonging, exploring how lives intersect and how these encounters shape the identity of a place.
Rooted in local voices and lived experience, the work incorporates fragments of recorded stories, subtle audio traces that emerge and recede within the space. These voices ground the installation, connecting the visual spectacle to real people, real memories, and the character of the surrounding community.
From a distance, Beacon acts as a strong visual landmark, acting as a signal and gathering point; up close, it becomes more intimate, offering moments of stillness, recognition, and quiet reflection.
