Reflections

Reflections is an installation featuring nine holographic “magic mirrors” that invite viewers to see their own reflection intertwined with video and poetic soundscapes of moving water.

Inspired by ancient dark pools, the work explores the profound experience of seeing one’s own image as if for the first time. Guided by a young girl’s narrative voice, viewers are encouraged to contemplate our physical connection to the environment and the inherent transience of life.

The soundtrack and visuals can be adapted to reflect local water sources – such as rivers or canals – as well as regional history and folklore. The installation is also scalable, with the option to add additional plinths and mirrors to suit larger spaces.

The work has successfully toured to audiences of up to 7,000 visitors per night at Light Night Wigan.

Lou Chapelle

Artist Bio

Lou Chapelle creates video and light experiences that make us feel connected with nature. Her work combines traditional illusion tecnniques and digital technologies to create magical immersive spaces. Some works become large scale pieces, some are more intimate and tactile experiences.

Her exploration of the medium of video as “light in space” re-invents the way we look at moving images, giving the pixels a more physical and palpable form.
She works with a team of creatives on the production of her artworks from her studio in Liverpool. She is orginally from Lyon, France, where she graduated at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-arts.
