Barnsley Bright Nights is a three-day winter lights festival featuring illuminating artworks, performances and happenings across the town centre.
Started in 2018, the festival is now an established highlight of Barnsley’s cultural events programme.
This year’s event starts with a specially commissioned festive version of The Lips luminous spectacle for the Christmas Lights Switch-On.
Take the light art trail and discover the 9-metre long ‘Luma robotic snail by Air Giants, unique light sculptures inspired by Brains in a Dish dementia research from artist Charlie Murphy and more.
Follow the Bright Futures illuminated parade – with robot drummers by Global Grooves, funky moves from Compact Disco and ‘This Is Tomorrow’ community banners inspired by the current Jeremy Deller exhibition at Barnsley Civic.
Barnsley Bright Nights is delivered by Barnsley Council’s Arts & Events team with partners Barnsley College, The Glass Works, Barnsley Museums, Barnsley Civic, Barnsley Libraries and The Seam.
