About
Wigan Council presents Light Night Wigan + Leigh – an exceptional programme of work highlighting the Borough’s amazing network of canals and wetland spaces.
Light Night Wigan + Leigh is produced by Things That Go on Things, who specialise in making and curating high-quality artistic events for people’s doorsteps – removing the boundary of travel costs and the intimidation of cultural spaces. The programme, now in its second year, takes place across the borough offering visitors from Wigan and beyond the opportunity to explore anew these amazing locations in exciting and creative ways.
Many of the artists included in Light Night Wigan + Leigh have a particular interest in the natural world and our role as custodians of the planet. Their work will delight and intrigue visitors of all ages, who can see all the work at the same time as enjoying time in the open air.
Like other current programs of work Light Night Wigan + Leigh is driven by the Borough’s Cultural Manifesto The Fire Within. This Manifesto builds on The Deal 2030 and Wigan’s vision to be a place where people want to work, live, visit and invest and contributes to a shift in perception, with the borough, now recognised for its re-energised cultural offer and creative talent.
