Through spectacular artworks, immersive installations and moments of surprise, Nightfall transforms everyday places into extraordinary spaces after dark. Bringing together artists from across the UK and beyond, the festival invites audiences of all ages to explore, play, discover and connect.
Since its launch, Nightfall has welcomed more than 100,000 visitors, presented over 100 artworks by local, national and international artists, and established itself as one of the North East’s leading light festivals. Each edition offers a unique artistic programme, but the festival’s purpose remains the same: to create memorable experiences that bring communities together, inspire curiosity and transform the darkest nights with colour, creativity and wonder.
Born in Middlesbrough and shaped by the creativity of Teesside, Nightfall returns in 2027 with a bold new chapter, continuing its mission to transform places and create unforgettable shared experiences through light.
